The Free Way

15 year old Bethany White lays in her bed staring out into the midnight sky. She can hear the gun fire again. Even though her papa denies it, she knows the fighting is getting closer and closer to their house. She turns around and hugs little Annabell closer to her body as she crys for all the wounded and killed soldiers.

"BETHANY FAITH WHITE GER DOWN TO THE KITCHEN NOW!"

Mama's yelling again. Probably needs help with hanging the laundry. With her big belly it's hard to do.
"Bells, time to wake up." Marie the house maid, is shaking Annabell.
"Noo. Just 5 more minutes. Please. I promise." she rolls back over.
"No come on you. You need to get ready to go downstairs."
I pull on my day dress and head downstairs. Mama is standing by the table whispering something to Papa.
"What's going on?"
"Why don't you sit down Beth." This is not going to be good.
"Did I do something wrong?"
"Goodness no." Mama says, putting her hand on her baby bump.
"Beth. Mrs. Wilson's husband died early yesterday afternoon."
"Oh no." My hand shoots to my mouth in shock. That poor family.
"They are having some pretty though times with money so they are going to be living with us for awhile."
"Oh, ok. May I leave now. I need to get my chores done." After Mama shakes her head I walk out into the yard and make my way towards the barn.
I should probably tell you more about me.
As you already know I'm Bethany Faith White. I'm 15 and live in Georgia. I'm the second oldest of 6, soon to be 7. There is Martin,17; Me, 15; George, 13; Gabe, 12; Susan, 10; Annabell, 5; and baby number seven, who Mama is 7 months pregnant with.
We own a huge farm outside the city of Alantia. We own more than 30 slaves. They are aloud to come and go as they wish. I share a room with Annabell and Susan. We get along fine, but now that the Wilsons' are moving in, there is probably going to be even more of us.
Widow Wilson has 5 shildren. Henry, 17; Mary, 15; Joseph, 11; Cindy, 9; and 16 month old Sam. Mary is my best friend.
Now that you know that. Lets get back to the story.
As I walk to the barn where Martin and George are I can't stop thinking about Henry. He is very cute. He is always saying "Hi" to me and telling me how beautiful I am. Marin says he's trouble. I find him handsome and charming.
"Martin, did you hear what happened to the Wilsons'?"
"Yeah, and now I'm going to have to share my room."
"Oh my. What ever will you do?"
"Bethany, ifyour gonna be in here you are gonna work." grumbles George.
Not wanthing to get in their way, I walk out of the barn and go and check on my horse Star. As I make my way past the cattle I can't help but notice there are a bunch lieing on the ground. Bullet holes everywhere.
Bullets. Star.
I pick up the end of my dress and run past the cows and over to the horse pens. Star is standing there. Just looking at me.
I run back to the cows yelling the whole way.
"Martin! George! Papa! Come NOW!"
Martin, George and Cabe all come running over. Horror looks on their faces as they see the cattle.
"Pa's not going to be happy one bit." says Gabe, who I might add is chewing on a piece of straw. Disgusting.

[[How is everyone doing? Ha. Haven't written forever. Just an update. If you haven't read my About Me, I had the twins. Sam and Isabella. Anyways, between school, Claire, and the twins I'm going to try to post as much as I can. Thanks!]]
