Nuria
          She had been drawn to him from the moment she saw him, leaning casually against the old oak tree in the middle of the school courtyard. Nobody else seemed to notice him, and Nuria credited that toward his intimidating appearance. With his slightly disheveled chestnut hair and his dark choice in attire of a black tee-shirt advertising some rock band combined with a black leather jacket, he looked quite dangerous.
          He had his hands stuffed in the pockets of his jeans, intently observing the other students as they walked past him into the main door, very obviously avoiding his gaze. Then suddenly he switched his sights on her, and Nuria found herself staring down into the sparkling depths of his deep blue eyes, the urge to be near him immensely stronger with the connection.
          Barely aware of her own actions, she found herself slowly walking toward him.  She was surprised at how easy it was for her to undertake in such an act of boldness, but she even more surprised at how comfortable she felt doing it.
          Quiet and reclusive, she was the type of girl who preferred being alone in her room reading than out with a friend, who would rather sitting outside eating alone under the tree than sitting at a cramped table listening to the breeding gossip. She never liked people, they all seemed the same: selfish and denoting.
          However, there she was strolling confidently toward a boy she had never seen, a boy who could be potentially harmful and just as callous as the rest. Although oddly she knew that he wasn’t. With the same strange bond that led her to him, she knew he was particularly different than the mass of students she had been observing, and she felt safer than she ever had with every step that enclosed the distance between them.
          His penetrating gaze had not flickered during her whole journey across the lawn towards the oak tree where he resided, and she found it impossible to break the link.
          “I’m Nuria.” She brashly held out her hand for him to shake, not breaking eye contact. Being closer made his eyes even more profound, they were a midnight blue speckled with bits of the daytime sky, just as vast and absorbing as the atmosphere. Nuria never wanted to look away.
          “Zakiya.” He said simply. His voice was sonorous and mesmerizing; Nuria found herself yearning for him to say more.
          He gave her an odd look as he slowly brought his hand out to meet hers. Their gaze held as their hands gradually reached for the others, suddenly connecting with a burst of light.  Neither heard the school bell ring signaling the end of lunch at exactly the stroke of noon.
Kiran
They were supposed to be in school, of course, but Kiran took it upon himself to issue Elettra and himself to a much needed break. He had arrived promptly at her house at 7:30 to pick her up for school such as the routine, but when he had reached the building in which they were expected to be educated, he had knowingly drove past, leading them out onto the highway.
“Where are you going Kiran?” She giggled.
“It’s a surprise.” He smiled, taking a sidelong glance at her just in time to see her face light up. Neither of them found an extreme interest in school, so it was not surprising for her to show no concern in missing the day’s classes.
He followed the highway as it glided though the occasional walls of rock and clusters of trees, all the while being interrogated by Elettra who tried quite fervently to get him to confess where they were going, to no avail. He was not going to ruin this surprise he had so cleverly came up with.
“Please?” She begged with wide beautiful green eyes and a protruding bottom lip. It was the adorable face she used when trying to get something out of him, and it normally worked. But Kiran was avid in his stance and didn’t budge, much to her dismay. 
She had been his everything from the moment he saw her, walking past him in the school hallway. Kiran instantly knew she was the one for him. Strangely she had confessed that she had had a similar feeling, which pulled her back to him just as he had took a step forward. She smiled; she had looked like an angel with her golden flowing hair and soft purple sundress that matched her strikingly violet eyes. And just like they found their other half, never aware until that moment that they hadn’t been whole before.
Elettra was his perfect match, he knew this from the core of his being, and he didn’t want to give her anything less than perfect. He knew that this surprise was going to be amazingly perfect, as long as he didn’t spill the beans before hand.
            They drove on for nearly two hours before Kiran suddenly pulled the car over to the side.
            “You have to put a blindfold on.” He told her, smiling.
            “Why?” She whined.
            “It’s a surprise remember?” Then he pulled out the black piece of cloth from his pocket and leaned over to gently wrap it around her eyes.
“I can’t see a thing!” She complained, playfully.
“That’s the point.” He chuckled. When he was sure that it was secure he gave her a kiss before quickly returning back to the steering wheel.
“So how long do I have to keep this thing on?” She asked, leaning back into her seat.
Kiran put the car into drive and pulled himself back onto the highway.
“Until we get there.” He informed with a laugh.
About a half an hour later he finally reached his destination. After parking the car, he grabbed his backpack and gently helped Elettra out of the car. Then he led her into a building and into an elevator. He took her up as high as the elevator would go before he had to guide her up the stairs and onto the roof. He slowly removed the blindfold.
Elettra gasped. It was perfect. The sun was high in the sky and sparkled off the hundreds of skyscrapers that now surrounded them. There were a few billboards here and there advertising some useless products, and many birds flew overhead. It was beautiful.
Kiran pulled a blanket out of his bag and laid it out in the center of the roof.
“Will you join me?” He asked, and Elettra willingly sat next to him, still awed by the beautiful site before them.
“It’s amazing.” She finally breathed.
“You’re amazing.” He stated, and gave her a long kiss. She eagerly returned his kisses and soon they were lost in the exchange over the romantic scene around them.
They lost track of time in their kisses, only pausing with a rumble from Elettra’s stomach.
“Hungry?” Kiran asked, and Elettra nodded. He pulled away from her and grabbed his backpack to pull out their lunch.
“What time is it?” Elettra asked the moment he set the food down.
He brought his hand up to look at his watch, faintly noticing his shadow replicate his motions.
“11:59” He informed just before the number switched to 12:00. For a moment everything flashed white, but Kiran just shook it off and thought nothing of it. He lowed his hand. But something was wrong. He moved his hand again, but there was no similar motion made by his shadow. In fact, he didn't have a shadow at all.
