Once Upon a Time (Thirty-Four)

I woke up in the bed I had been given at my grandmother’s house, the warm soft blankets over me. My head was foggy and it was hard to think. I faintly remembered the previous day’s events, being released from my grandma and then caught by Aleron who was in cahoots with Nyxali. They had locked me to a table and set giant wolves on me before I got saved. I got saved by Kainen!
          I shot up and looked around the room, but I was alone. Maybe it had all been a dream. Wondering, I looked down at my arms to see the scars of million cuts. Some were quite large, three inches long and a cm across, while others seemed like merely grazes but each was scabbed over in a hard casing of dried blood. I ran my hand over them, feeling the rough scabs smoothing out to skin and then back to scab again shortly thereafter. My proof. It really had happened. That meant Kainen really did save me!
“Kainen!” I cried, hoping that wherever he went he was close by.
“Calm down dear,” My grandma swooshed into my room unaccompanied, much to my disappointment.
“Where’s Kainen?” I asked, fearful that maybe it hadn’t been him.
“He had to run and get something.” She informed, and my heart leaped. He really was here!
“When will he be back?” I was practically jumping for joy, or well, I would’ve been if I hadn’t been in bed with a million of cuts all over me.
“Did I hear my lady asking for me?” Kainen appeared in the doorway.
I quickly jumped out of bed and sprinted to him to give him a gigantic hug which he quickly returned.
My true love was alive again. He had saved me. He was here!
I rubbed my hands along his back. He really was here. I could feel the tears threaten in my eyes. I had gone through so much to save him, and somehow I had succeeded! By some miracle, I had brought him back to life.
I pulled away slightly, looking intently into his passionate eyes.
“You’re alive.” I whispered, bringing my hand up to rub it along the defined curves of his face before leaning in to give him a long kiss.
He smiled, and I almost melted. I had forgotten how incredibly attractive he was.
“Yes, it appears I am. Thanks to you. You know you are some sort of Legend around here now?” He sparkled.
I blushed. “But how?”
“Well overcoming all those obstacles was not an easy task.” He explained.
“No, I mean, how are you alive?”
“A soul only needs to be released and it will find the body in which it belongs.” He informed.
“But Bliss told me it would be roaming aimlessly through the world forever.” I confessed.
“Well Bliss has been locked up in that tower her whole life; she would have no way of determining that information.” He grinned, and I had to rub my hands against him again just to make sure he was really there.
“I’ll just let you two alone.” My grandmother said before leaving the room.
“You should be in bed.” Kainen told me, swiftly sweeping me into him arms. He took a couple steps and then placed me gently back on my bed.
“How did you find me?” I wondered aloud.
“Well the whole land has been following your story; you’re quite famous so it wasn’t that difficult. The latest news was that you had been discovered as a Princess, Granddaughter of Queen Nadia, and heir of the throne. So I came straight here, only discover that she had liberated you so you could go find me, and so I went about to searching the woods. Us who contain magic emit it in a subtle aura so when I had discovered Nyxali’s ‘scent’ I knew immediately something was wrong. I trailed her and discovered her lair, but there was no way to get in through the door. So I scaled around the building and discovered a cave of giant wolves. I didn’t want to disturb them, though her cage was so poorly protected it would’ve been so easy to get it. So I was standing there contemplating how to distract the wolves when the door into the building opened and I knew something was wrong. I quickly broke the cage and followed the wolves in through the door and that’s when I found you. Then I brought you here.” He explained, and I leaned up to give him another long kiss.
Then I remembered that Nadia had said that Kainen had to go get something. “What did you go to get while I was asleep?”
He chuckled, gave me a little kiss, then quickly sprinted out the door.
“Kainen!” I called, why was he leaving?
Just then he reappeared in the doorway. “Did I forget to mention that I ran into these people on my way over?” He stepped to the side and in walked my father and Anisa.
Okay so I know there is a lot of editing I have to do and better explain some things which I will be sure to do in the final version. If you have any questions or comments on the story so far please let me know so that I can make this story as good as possible. I thank you for reading and I will be sure to have the rest of the story up by the end of this week!
