Can you see it? Are you even looking? Take a look around you, really look, what do you see?
Can you see the individual hairs of the carpet? The ridges in the walls? Each ring in the wood? Look at your clothes; can you see each individual thread? Each piece is in its place forming a single pattern.
Look outside, now can you see it? Gaze at that tree. Do you notice how each leaf is similar to the one before it, but none are the same? Can you see how each branch and twig jut out in their own way and yet they’re all a part of that same tree? Look at each blade of grass, each grain in the sidewalk.
Now hold out your hand and look closely. What do you see? Can you see the wrinkles? Can you see all the folds in your skin that make up your own individual design? Can you see the millions of cells that make up everything you are?
Now what are we looking for? We’re looking for patterns, similarities, differences, shape, color, texture. We’re looking through the eyes of an artist.
