I was fully aware of the commotion out side of my warm fuzzy pillow but I didn’t want to deal with it. Of course no one could blame me they didn’t have to deal with hopeful ghosts trying to get their attention any way they could. Though I sometimes forget no one else can see them.

My mother and father came into my room not much after I finally got up to make sure no other pieces of technology were left on by the ghosts. They surprised me with the force that they yelled.

The ghosts that is I had many ma’am can you please help me my, I want you to go watch the world series of-, she hid the recipe under the stove make, I never got a chance, why aren’t you listening.

They were non stop but I wasn’t acknowledging them they would go away although that hadn’t worked with Hadley.

My parents however were mad about a different subject. As soon as they came through the door my Father started in on me “Sarell Leann, do you have any idea how worried we were when your school called and said that you hadn’t shown up to your afternoon classes? Or think about how bad of parents-your mother and I-looked like. In this community you are to set an example of pride not of misbehavior and acting out. Do you have a reason for missing your classes?”

“Actually Daddy I wasn’t feeling well so instead of pulling you and mama away from your work or Ry out of class I just walked home. It probably wasn’t the right thing to do but it’s in the past so there is no point in trying to change it now.” I knew I as being a smart aleck but I didn’t care.

This time my mother spoke. “After all this time we thought that you were a good kid then you skip school come home and play the music extremely loud. That is no way for a minister’s daughter to act and you know it. Think of the shadow you have cast upon this family that we have worked so hard to up hold. You should be ashamed of yourself.”

My head felt like it was spinning my mother had never talked to me that way before. I retaliated without really thinking. “Oh My Go-.” SMAAAAACCCCKK. Her hand slammed across my face making me fall to the ground clutching my cheek.

“Don’t you dare so those words in this house young lady? If you want to say that form of profane language then you may as well go live with your grandmother.” My dads cool tone had not been lost he always acted like he was better than everyone even though it wasn’t true.

Tears were streaming down my face I couldn’t talk because there was too much blood in my mouth because my teeth cut my lip gums.

They promptly left me in my room so I could ‘think about what I had done.’ I went to the restroom still clutching my cheek so I could assess the damage.

I had a deep red almost purple bruise already forming. My anger heated up I wanted to punch something. She had no right to do that to me. Sometimes I wished I lived with my grandma.

I finished washing my face and Ry popped in to check on me. “Hey Rell are you okay? They didn’t do that did they?” he asked as he saw my face

“Yeah Ry mom hit me pretty hard I’d say but I’ll be okay.” While I muttered. It’s not like they have had to witness a murder or be hunted by mourning spirits.

“Huh? What did you say?” he asked as he backed out of the bathroom.

“Oh nothing,” I said quickly having your family not know that you see spirits can be irritating sometimes especially when you almost said too much.

I made my way back to my room and laid down on my bed but it was never was quiet around me soon enough Jazmina just had to show up.
