Chapter 5

I felt hands wrap around my waist. I turned around and saw Dylan’s gorgeous face. I smiled and kissed him softly. He blushed and took my hand and headed for the dance floor. We danced for a while and it was pretty fun, even though there was songs that I had no idea what they were, I just wanted to try and have a good night, without Caleb popping up in my mind. I don’t understand why though. Aren’t I over him yet?

At the end of the night, which was around midnight, everyone started to leave. Melody and Brittany were totally drunk so Dylan offered to take us all home. Everybody was walking out the door when I saw Caleb standing there talking to people as they walk out. I really didn’t want to say anything, but there’s just something inside me that wanted to.

“Dylan, do you mind if I talk to Caleb for a second?” I asked.

“Sure no problem; I’ll be out in the car with Melody and Brittany,” he replied, as he gave me a longer than expected kiss. I could tell Caleb was in no mood for it. Dylan walked out and the big door shut behind him. I turned to face Caleb, half uncomfortable to talk.

“So did you have fun,” he questioned.

“Yeah, it was great. I was glad I came.” I said, as I tried to put on a smile.

“So, you know, I wasn’t trying to ignore you at all tonight. I just didn’t want to interrupt your night with Dylan.” He apologized.

“No, you don’t need to apologize. Besides, that’s not what I wanted to tell you.” I replied.

“Ok, then what is it then,” he says.

I had a gut feeling of kissing him, telling him I still like him, even though I’m with Dylan. I couldn’t have power over it and it was giving me a migraine just thinking about, so I went up to him and pressed my lips against his. It was an urge that I couldn’t resist. I couldn’t believe what I was doing. Gees I have a boyfriend. What is my problem? Caleb didn’t push me away at first, but unfortunately, he did about 30 seconds later. I looked in his eyes; blissful yet puzzled.

“You know we should do this. You’ve got a boyfriend now. I don’t want your heart to get torn apart_” and that’s where I stopped him.

“You mean like what I did to you?” I replied, as he looked at the ground. “Caleb, I’m sorry about the past. I honestly wanted to tell you the truth, but…”

“What do you mean the truth?” he said, cutting me off.

I realized now that I did never tell him that Cindy just made up all those things and that I didn’t want to go out with him. I sort of wanted to tell him, but I heard a car horn outside. I looked out the window next to the door.

“You probably shouldn’t keep them waiting,” Caleb said.

I nodded and turned the other way. I walked out on the sidewalk and into the car, not looking ahead of me. As Dylan drove away, I saw Brittany climbing up to the font seat, beeping the horn. I wasn’t in the mood. I looked out my window at Caleb’s house. He was staring down at me, but I looked away.

What is wrong with me? Am I crazy? Dylan’s the one that I love not Caleb? I can’t be in love with two guys at one time, can I? No, it’s not right; but how can I get these feelings for Caleb to stay away and stop interfering with me life.
