Chapter 3

After school, I didn’t see Jason much at all. I decide to take a stroll through town to see what’s around. I put my ear buds to my I-pod in my ears and started jamming out to The Jonas Brother’s song, “SOS.” I was so into the song, I start to dance and get into the groove. I was strongly obsessive of that song.

I walk down the tiny sidewalk and I really wasn’t paying any attention what’s so ever of what was in front of me and I bump into someone.

“Hey watch where you’re- Hey Rose!” They said.

I looked up from the ground. Jason.

“Oh my god! I’m- I’m so- so sorry. I was just umm…” I stuttered.

“It’s ok. You don’t need to explain. I like dancing out randomly to some of my favorite tunes once and a while.” He laughs.

I smile, blushing, as I knew my face was getting a darker shade of pink. I can’t believe I was such a klutz. Dancing out in public? Wow, I know not to try and do that again.

“I didn’t try it. I’m a little out of it when I’m really into some of my favorite songs sometimes. I guess I’ll be on my way now.” I told him, as I went out around him, but he pulls on my arm, turning me around, facing him.

“Hey, you don’t need to go that soon, do ya? What were you listening to anyway?” he asks.

“Just a Jonas Brothers song; I’m obsessed with them.” I told him.

“Really? I mean I love there songs. Which one were you listening to? Wait, let me guess. Was it SOS?” he questions.

Wow, he’s good. I thought.

“Actually, yeah I was.” I smile.

“I had a feeling. I always rock out to that song.” He chuckles and so do I.

“I guess we have some things in common.” I said.

“I guess so. Well, I don’t wanna keep you here, talking for the next ten hours. I’ll catch you later.” He replies.

“Jason, wait!” I shout to him.

And why was I stopping him? He turns around and looks back at me as his bluish gray eyes glisten at me. I stand there with my mouth wide open. Say something already!

“Do you think you can show me around town a bit?” I stuttered. “I really have nothing better to do.”

“I though you’d never ask. Of course,” he smiles.

“Well, I don’t know. I barely know anything about this town. It would be nice to know what goes around in this town.” I reply.

Jason just laughs. “Alright, I guess there are something’s you should know. Follow me.” He instructs me.

We walked passed an old build that looks like it hasn’t been used for over 10 years or so. He saw me staring and it and he starts talking again.

“That building over there,” he began pointing, “Was where me and a couple friends would ride dirt bike. There’s a giant mound behind the building so we’d try to jump it.”

The run down build wasn’t overly tall, but I couldn’t see jumping it with a dirt bike.

“Isn’t that dangerous? What if you would have gotten hurt?” I exclaim.

“I’m tough. I ripped my whole arm open and cracked my head on a giant rock. I’m still alive.” He explains. “There was a tornado that went through here a few weeks ago.”

I cut him off, worriedly. “Wait! There was a tornado that went through here?"

“Of course, in the middle of no where, we get them all the time. Anyway, I was out helping my dad in the fields when I saw the funnel coming down. My dad was on the tractor and he insisted he wasn’t going anywhere. He’s very bull-headed by the way. We ran into the shed behind our house and we barely made it before the twister struck the barn. It took everything from there, except for maybe 5 cows, 2 injured, and a couple horses. It was probably one of the worst we’ve had in a long time.” He sighs.

I look down at the ground. “Do you still have your house?” I ask, afraid to.

“Oh yeah, it just took the barn and most of the animals. My father was pissed, but he’s going through it terribly.” He replies.

“Wow, I don’t know what to say, but I feel bad.” I told him, feeling pretty bad that he lost a lot.

“Nah! You don’t have to be. Let’s get back to showing you around, shall we?” he smiles.

I nod my head. “Let’s go!”
