I Wonder *44*

Chapter 44

Driving insane to basically no where, which it feels like we will never get anywhere. Then suddenly, we both hear Jason’s cell phone ring. It’s Kyle. I look behind us and there is no one there.

“Yeah man, where are you?” Jason asks. I can’t understand what Kyle is saying, it just sounds like “-the… we… building… think.” That made absolutely no sense what’s so ever.

“Are you serious?- Oh okay, yeah I’ll let her know. Okay… yeah- yeah that’s fine. See you there.” Jason closes his phone and lays it down beside us.

“So…” I sigh, looking over at him.

“They found the building. They found my dad’s truck in the parking lot and they are just waiting for us.” He replies, looking over at me and then on the road.

“Well, why don’t they just go inside and do something? We can get there.” I insist, kind of getting pissed because they are waiting on us.

“They want us to be there. Plus, the doors are locked.” Jason says, with worry in his voice.

I tightly close my eyes, “I’m scared.” I whisper.

Jason looks over at me and puts his arm around my shoulder and pushes me toward him, leaning me against him.

“It’s going to be all right Rose… I know it will.” He says.

As soon as we pull up to a grey brick building, my stomach begins to churn. I have this gut feeling that something has, or something will happen and it’s going to be because of me. God, I am such an idiot. Why would I tell this guy where she is and that she’s alive? I know I should have just let it go, but I couldn’t. I don’t think I will ever forgive myself if something would happen to someone.

“Rose?” Jason turns to me. I look over at him. “It’s going to be fine.” He says.

I gulp. “I hope so.”

“I know so,” he retorts.

Jason opens his door to get out. We saw Kyle and Kendra doing the same. I grip the door handle hard and open it slowly as I get out. I step out of the truck, closing the door behind me, and as soon as I got out, a cold hand grasps around my mouth. I try to scream but it is useless. Luckily, everyone is close by so Jason sees me in trouble in no time.

“Let her the hell alone.” He yells, running over to me quickly, as Kyle and Kendra follow. Kendra is probably actually the most terrified next to me.

“What makes you so sure that I will?” his deep voice hisses.

“Because I know you will,” a female voice approaches. Karrie comes up to us with a gun in her hands. It’s just kind of weird, but I hope she knows how to use that gun.

Dylan pauses and I can feel his grip getting loose, but I just stay where I am. His face is a bit pale too. All is silent right now and I hope it ends fast. I hate being in the center of attention right now; because every time I’m in a situation like this, someone is bound to get hurt.
