I Wonder *45*

Chapter 45

I watch Karrie holding the gun out in front of me. She didn't have it pointed at me though. She doesn't look really nervous, as if she's done this plenty of times before, so my worry went down a little bit. I glance over the the others in the corner of my eye. Oh how I wish I could be safe in Jason's arms right now.

"Let her free Dylan. I don't want my daughter to get hurt because I'm the one that you've been looking for. And guess what? You found me." Karrie states, calming herself down and trying to do the same with Dylan.

"I'll let her go once you put down the gun." Dylan retorts, gripping me a bit hard and I close my eyes, praying that no one will get hurt, because it'll be my fault.

Karrie didn't move. "You heard what I said. Let her go. You already have me. I'll drop the gun, just hand Rose over to me."

Just when I think Dylan was going to let me go, I feel a sharp pain jab into my back. I yelp out in pain and fall to the ground. I have no idea what is going on with Dylan and Karrie, but I notice everyone else rushed to my side. Jason lifts me up slightly and holds me in his arms. I could feel blood soaking up my shirt. Jason takes my hand and cups it over my wound. I wince as I am in so much pain I can't stand it anymore.

"Jason-" I mumble, feeling a little woozy, as things around me start to get blurry.

"Baby please, don't speak. Just hang in there okay. Help is on it's way, just hold on." he tells me, and I close my eyes and blank out.

I blink slowly, as lights overhead shine in my eyes. I can tell by the room I'm in and my surroundings that I was in a hospital. I notice Jason, sleeping in one of the chairs beside me. I don't really want to walk him, but I want him to know that I am all right.

"Psst! Jason!" I croak, struggling to get words out. It's as if I hadn't spoken in months. "Jason!"

Suddenly, he opens his eyes, blinking them open and closed, but his eyes grow wide when he sees me and hops out of his seat, giving me a gentle hug.

"My God, don't ever scare me like that. I thought I lost you Rose!" Jason replies, realsing his grasp and taking a hold my hand.

"What do you mean? It wasn't that long that I was out, was it?" I respond, looking over at the calander on the wall, which read: September 4. Something doesn't make sense. "Wait... was I really...?" I look over at Jason. He stares at the calander, and nods. "I was out for three fucking months!!"

"And I was afraid that your folks were going to tell the doctor to pull the plug on you. God,  I don't know what I would have done if I would have gotten the chance to tell you this." Jason says, pulling something out of his pocket in the process.

"Tell me what?"

Jason pulls out a little black box out and kneeled down beside me. I'm still not a hundred percent sure, but I think I have an idea.

"Rose Marie Aldean, will you marry me?"
